Its time to do the back, having done the front upgrade to vented black diamonds and matching pads last Summer its time to do the rears. But i don't want to do this myself so where should I go, how much should i expect to spend? Oh mine is a standard 16" back wheel.

thanks guys

are they standard size up front but uprated, what diameter are front disc.just bare in mind fronts do 75% of the stopping usually,so you wont get major improvments from rear unless there in need of service.

You have hit the nail on the head, just went through MOT with not comment other than "you might want to think about changing those rears disks, very worn on inside but passable".

I know that the fronts are working harder but want to sort the back out now as well.

Would welcome any experience or advice.

Hey daddy,

I am told that grooved eat pads, which i don't want. But I am not a purest trying to be a custodian of a classic. Performance and looks are really what i go for with any potential spend on the car.

thanks

What is the upgrade intended to achieve? Are you suffering from overheated rear brakes at the moment?

Green, nice to see you online,

please see the opening comment, my local garage (V8 and TVR fans) who carried out my MOT suggested it is time to change the rear disks due to wear. I am just considering the opporutnity for an upgrade

In that case I suggest you stick with standard discs and a good brand of fast road pads (and make sure you bed them in properly according to the manufacturers instructions). If you had been suffering from overheating or gassing I'd have suggested 6-8 grooved discs, but if you don't need them they're only going to cause more noise and pad wear. From what you've said, there's absolutely no reason to upgrade the calipers or fit bigger discs.

yep that sounds like good advice,oh yes grooved more noise.....i have those up front.just fit motorcraft discs & pads from ford dealer at least the ford pads.they offer good bite & decent handbrake, some after market rear pads give crap bite for handbrake performance.just quote 2.0i sierra with abs fitted or early cosworth.thats if you want to go for standard.
