Yer my, head is not too clear at the moment, but I think the second player will always win, unless he cocks up.

You can make him play first by pressing go before touching any pearls.

I didn't do A levels, but if mr. patronising wins whether he goes first or second, the player MUST be able to win.

You need to force his last move several moves ahead.
