At speed my car tracks terrible, twitches and skips around, which in turn does the same to my bowels. Any tips on how to stop or make it better would be greatfully recieved.

Couple of things that have altered the handling on mine, When i bought the car the rear tyres where 3/4 worn, fronts maybe 1/4. The car handled great. I put new rears on for the trip to LeMans last year and for the first 2or 300 miles the car was a nightmare. Improved after that but still worse than with old tyres. I had the tracking and camber reset and this made things much better. Mrs Toy bought me an electronic pressure gauge for 'crimbo' and i checked tyres. All were bit low so popped to local garage to pump up. When their gauge read 28psi mine only read 23psi!! (20% out) All tyres now at correct press and car handles great again, ie/ Relaxed, one hand on wheel, no butt clenching at 130+ (on farm lane of course). Still tracks a bit on rolling country lanes but no worse than other cars i have driven of similar type ie/light car + big wheels+wide tyres.
Hope this info of some use, Dave.

Sorry for the blantant plug, but our new SP12 wheels transform the handling of the car. If you'd be interested in trying a set on your car we'd be delighted to get your feedback on PH - and we're pretty confident you'll buy them once you've tried them!! http://domain936675.sites.fasthosts.c

A reduction in wheel weight is a very sensible improvement. It's often said that one kilo removed from a rotating mass is worth 3kilos of static mass on the car, plus you're reducing the gyroscopic effect on the steered wheels ..

that fact they look great aswell is the icing on the cake

Thanks Jools!

And the weight is only part of the story. The spec of the wheels improves steering stability massively.

you will need in access of 2.5k to set a modern tvr up properly. Firstly change the factory dampers. Secondly get shot of them spiders, they weigh a ton and i personally dont think the quality is that good ( I REPAIR THEM ) and if you saw what i see sometimes you would not got shopping with them let alone tracking. I heard that at one stage a batch leaked air through the inside of the wheel and the dealers were told to fix it by painting some kind of air tight paint inside them. Thirdly get someone like TCS OR Topcats to set the dampers up properly. If you have any change get some good tyres. Your TVR will now fly like an arrow.

Just my opinion of course...

Mine was like that when I got it - Had it in for a service and while it was there it had a full camber and tracking and set up - rides much much better, still twitches a bit but I don't need new trousers when it does. i was amazed at the difference and I didn't think it was that bad before I had it done.

A friends just had nitrons fitted and that appears to have made a difference to his so might also be an idea.

Hope this helps

Well boys not only is that good advice, but I may take you up on the wheel offer as well. If you are as confident as you claim I had better start saving

What he said. I had all the same problems. Invested £1200 on Nitrons and set up (including corner weighting) at TopCats.

It Transformed the handling.

Actually thats not too bad a price is it,,,, I was scared of asking if I am honest

cheers to everyone, a big thankyou I need to be sensible on my outlay of dosh, so will probably break this into two stages. alignment & wheels. then alignment and suspension later in the year.

S.P "ITSADEAL" lets see what these puppies can do then! I am going into pro align in the week so after then is good, your local too which is a bonus.

Don't get the geometry done yet, we'll have to re-do it when we fit the wheels (for this trial we'll do it FOC) as the readings change with different spec wheels.
