Any top tips. fitting CV Boots??

Decided to get the cv boots changed as weathers crap this wkend, got it up on axle stands,can you get the drive shafts out without dropping lower wishbone? any tips much appreciated as i dont want to start striping down stuff i dont need to. cheers. Nick

I did mine a few weeks back. To get enough room to slide the drive shaft out I ended up undoing the roll bar drop link at the top, damper bottom bolt and the hub to wishbone bottom bolts to allow the hub to be swung up and the lower wishbone dropped. This gave me just enough room to push the diff end of the shaft forward and slide it out the back.
With the drive shaft out changing the boot is no different to most, circlip off one end, bearing puller to get the joint off and finally boots off.
I've heard a dealer would charge about £200 a side but apart from being a bit of a messy job it's not 400 quids worth of difficult.

You can get the drive shaft out by just detaching the end of the lower wish bone from the Hub ( 2 Bolts) and pulling the hub away/up

I replaced my near side drive sahft last week.
I loosened the bolt at the top of the hub which enabled me to swing the hub and gain just enough clearence to get the new shaft in.

Thanks guys will give that a try today. First job i've tackled on the cerb, i'm usually to lazy and just take it to ians at middlewich but trying to save some dosh as i've spent my £3000 a year budget in the first 5 mths.Thanks Nick.
