Gear box oil

hi,everyone want to change gear box oil can anybody tell me how and wher filler cap ,bolt thingy is so i can do it myself i think i am right in saying it is 2 and a half ltrs manythanks paul

The drain and level plugs are on the bottom/side of the gearbox, respectively, I'm sure you'd spot them easily enough if you were to get under the car and have a look.
But, with the greatest respect, if you have to ask these sort of questions, do you really think you should be working on the car

hi geoff fair comment,butsometimes if you don,t ask you don,t learn i know my limits iam not going to try anything high tech i done my own engine oil filter fan belt etg just never done a gearbox change just wanted to make sure i know whats what manythnks paul

No problems Paul, just wouldn't want you to bite off more than you could chew.
If you change the oil & filter on the Griff, especially if yours is a pre Serp model, make sure you know what you're in for before you start.

At least you've seen your Griff this weekend, mines (presumably) locked in its garage, I haven't even had time to look at it

hi geoff i have already done an oil change on the tvr it went ok no problems filter and fanbelt to just needed to know what to look for you can learn a hell of alot on piston heads sometimes someone has already had the problem that i had ,i have not sen my car since monday as i am having the inside referb hope to have it back sometime this week havent missed much this weekend weathers been nasty many thanks again paul

Done this few times changing G/box oil, rearly unless you can get it way up on ramps its a pain as the oil bottle wont go above the box fill plug i now use compressed air to pump it in so easy.Your not rearly going to learn a lot, worth changing diff at same time as i do dont think mine had been done for a while good luck.

is the quantity of oil required definately 2.5ltr, as manual and handbook show 1.4?

Think mine took slightly more just buy 3lt top up till dribbles out of side fill, i allways put some in just to wash last bits out so use more anyway.
