Clear Indicators
Discussion
Hi mate,
Just had mine done last thursday - What a difference they make to how she looks IMHO!!!
It can be a real pain to get the front ones out as they have to be cut out and the new ones glued back in. I think you can get the side repeaters fron halfords, think nits a mondeo or something like that!!!
Mine cost me fron a dealer about £270 .......Not cheap, awful really if im honest but worth it to me as she looks so much better now, especially as she is GTS Viper Blue and those horrible orange things looked crap!
Without hi-jacking the thread what does everyone think would look better, anthricite (spelling) or the normal spiders with Viper blue?

You can get the front ones if they're the same as a cerbie from Crook Brothers in preston they're from a landrover 110 or 101 I can't remember which, but they were about 15 pound each.
The side ones I got from Halfords - Mondeo or Ford Fiesta.
Look up www.crookbrothers.co.uk/index.htm and contact them - check with someone on here to check they're the same, but looking at photos they do look the same, can't help with fitting as I did mine on a cerbie. Any independent should do them fairly cheaply though.

i did the same and went to cook bros they were very helpfull there is a guy who works there who did own a tuscan and he changed his for clear,he sold it about two years ago and he cant get the lenses, the landrover ones tend to have two screw holes on each side of them (it will look bad) a guy from the factory said they come from a challenger tank of all things,if you dont want to pay the £250 quid or so the other place is ebay for £30-£40 to change them is a bit of ballbuster and arms like monkey helps, you have to break the filler/resin to get the old ones out and reseal with the same to make them waterproof 2-3 hour job but well worth it.
The proper ones are about £65 each or so from TVR, but there is a cheaper alternative using some reversing light lenses I believe, which TVR apparently used on some cars early on as they ran out of the proper ones. Try a search as there were a couple of threads a while back explaining what they were and how to fit.
I'm in the Army and have just checked my lights and found an FV number which denotes that it is a Fighting Vehicle part. As i have access to Army store supply chain i will try and find the part and see if i can get hold of some. If i do i'll post it on here, won't cost anything like £65.
I got mine about two months ago from crook bros and they haven't any screw holes in them _ I was down at Torque RVT in Middlewich the other day and had a good look at a Tuscan there they are the same lenses I'm sure - have a word with ian at torque rvt 01606 831244 if you want confirmation that they are the same.
If you are talking about side repeaters:
Did mine years ago and ordered the parts from a TVR main dealer. My wife has a Peugeot 206CC and the indicators are absolutely idential to those. You can therefore get the original part from a Peugeot or Citroen dealers.
If you have the amber ones fitted, you will find that the clear ones use slightly larger clips and lugs that hold them in place. It will therefore be necessary to gently file the aperture in the fibreglass in order to get the clear ones to fit, but done carefull it will give you a nice snug fit. You can also add a bead of clear silicone sealant to bond them in place and keep the area watertight, but the 'seal' can be broken easily and redone if you ever need to change the bulb.
Front indicators:
Whole different ball game. They are Landrover parts and shifting the old ones out can be a tricky job, one that I entrusted to the TVR factory themselves. Cost about £220 if I remember, but that was 3 years or so ago.
Adding clear indicators to the Tuscan does give it a more modern look IMHO and is well worth doing.

Remarkable, but absolutely true. When you see a load of Tuscans lined up, some have reversing light lenses! Another piece of TVR history!

They're Chim reversing lights. Cost about a tenner a piece (I got mine from TVR Power).
However They didn't fit at all - the lip on the lenses was way too big (we're talking a March 2000 Tuscan here). I ended up getting a file and some sandpaper and skimming the lip off all the way round (that took a loooooong Saturday to do), then glued them back together minus the lip. Depending on the size of the gap you're mounting the lights into, you might not have a problem - just a heads-up there!
The repeaters are indeed mid-90s Fiesta/Mondeo ones (Fiesta Mk3, I believe - could be wrong, though). £12 or so from Halfrauds. Slide a (blunt) flat bladed knife in at one end (can't remember if it's front or back) of the repeater to depress the clasp, then it'll just "pop" out. 5 minute job.

I should clarify:
The orginial amber side repeaters are Ford parts. These can be exchanged with aftermarket units available from Halfords, but:
I stand by my statement that the clear ones that TVR use are Peugeot-Citroen and are longer and narrower in shape than the amber Ford ones, and therefore the hole in the GRP needs a bit of shaping with a file to accomodate them. If anyone is in doubt about this, I could take a photo of them side by side for comparison if someone could post them up for me.
James - the front indicators are reversing lights from a Chim? Sorry, don't get this? The early Chims had Ford Fiesta clusters that were inverted. So are you saying that Mk2 Chims shared the same reversing light lenses as Tuscans - or am I completely losing the plot here????

Absolutely - if it came from the factory with amber, get Ford clear ones. If it came from the factory with clear, replace with Pug ones/get out some sandpaper.

Officially, they're not reversing lamps from the Chims. But in reality, they're close-as-damnit a fit (perfect in some cars, not so in others - being Tivs!).
So, yup, spot on again; early Chims had the same rear cluster as the Cerb - Mk3 Fiesta (IIRC). Mk2 Chimaera, was seperate lenses that happen to fit the Tusc's front indicator recess:

My god.....so much info on the what I should do. Some say Landrover / chimeara / def don'twant to pay hundreds of pounds.
Cheers Lads
Chim ones definitely worked (albeit with a bit of sandpapering fun!), and were recommended by Dom at TVR Power if I remember correctly.

Sorry - didn't spot this before. The Cerb ones are a Lucas part - as used on a couple of Lands (and an APC!) if I remember correctly. I'm not convinced these are the same as the Tuscan's... they may be, but I've not noticed it said on here before.
