It's the speedo sensor Paul, I actually dropped something on it and broke one of the pins sometime after this photo. I then bought a new one but got sent the wrong type, it seems mine is a slightly different arrangement to others (later ones) I've seen.
So if someone wants to offer me someting for the brand new, newer type one I have PM me. Or catch it on E-bay soon

There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer on this one,as per the last GKN thread,however ive just found out the Griff i'm restoring has a GKN diff
as I have a couple of spare BTR's.The chances are it will come of something as the BTR with TVR specific rear casing looks like it has the same chassis mounts as the GKN,and I would say TVR took it from something before going specific(casing),will compare tommorrow when the body comes off. By the way and I haven't taken it further yet,but the Jag 8" GKN diff has a ratio of 3.54 isn't it the same on the TVR GKN?(BTR is 3.45)

The only other car I have found any info on is some Maserati, dont know the model , but apparently it has the same diff!
I'm sure your right about the ratio,I have'nt looked into it.I hope I don't have any problems,there's not to many Mazer's this part of town,i'm picking up a btr tommorrow from a very knowledgeable diff specialist,and see if he recognizes the GKN from anything.
From what I can find out and learnt, the GKN diff fitted to Griff & Chim was not fitted to any other car except a Maserati. The GKN fitted to the XJS is different. The ratio is 3.31:1 for the TVR GKN diff. I have been told by Bernie at CTS that the BTR is a straight swap for the GKN as long as you purchase purpose built front mounting brackets (BTR diff brackets mount to a different chassis point than the GKN - so TVR BTR diff brackets will not match up with a GKN chassis), not sure if a BTR rear bracket is required. Apart from a bit of fettling for the speedo pick up everything apparently bolts up. I dont know if the BTR diff has a different housing than used on Aussie V8s but nothing surprises me were TVR are concerned.

Mine is not in that location? I wondered what the bracket was for when i replaced the diff with another one.
Mine must be near the gearbox end then?
Ok got the Griff of the GKN chassis today and compared it with a BTR one I have.
The side chassis mounts although made differently are in the same position and are the same size,the diff mount bushe's are the same but the bracket differ's.(slightly)
The rear chassis mounts are in a similar position,but offset 15mm further to the off side on the BTR,the brackets have the same bush but differ on the diff mount completely.
Excuse the quality,taken on the phone.
I have measured the Holden BTR diff,it is exactly the same besides the rear casing(which will not fit on the TVR chassis)

It would appear that a different diff rear mounting bracket would have to be fabricated to fit a BTR diff to a GKN chassis to deal with the off set. I've been told this swap has been done, so I would imagine before long some one will offer an appropriate kit to make this swap straight forward.
