Steering Column buttons

Can anyone tell me what the two buttons on the under side of the steering column do? There is one either side of the boot release? I took the dash top off earlier and while undoing the bolt i found the 2 buttons!?

IIRC one turns off the dash lights, the other could be a fan override!

I thought the fan over ride was an aftermarket mod done by the owner? These buttons are exactly the same??

might be a 3 speed drivers footwell/right dash vent fan...well it is on the Griffith and mine actually blows cold .

Ahh could be that, as my feet are always hot when drivin!!

THese were optional IIRC, and they only blow cold air - designed to keep the driver awake and alert if the heating was on.
