This is the first admittance of the Cayman non S version by Porsche GB. I have found OPCs very reluctant to say anything about it to protect the "S" market. I see the engine is now out in the open 2.7 245 bhp,wheels look like 17 ins and single pipe exhaust but not other details revealed.
Anyone know when all the facts are going to be out including pricing and availability?

You've got to admit, they may have no scruples but they know how to sell cars...
Next thing you know they'll be churning out a CS, but at more money than the S (rather than less as they did with the 968CS).

Just too much money! spec is poor compared to any of their rivals and are 4k more than any of their rivals.
Dynamically brilliant true but for the money, even the Z4 2.5 will be a better buy.
I really think they've shot themselves in the foot with the pricing of the Caymans. No wonder they aren't selling brilliantly.

Record March for U.S. Porsche Sales
ATLANTA, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced its best-ever March sales in the United States. The company sold a total of 3,185 Porsches, an increase of 14 percent compared to March of 2005. Of this total 1,127 are Porsche 911s, the most ever sold in one month in the United States in the model's history. Year-to-date sales are up 26 percent to a total of 9,117 units compared to 7,219 sold in the first three months of last year.
PCNA has marked record sales in each of the three months of 2006. This remarkable performance was mainly due to sharp increases in sports car sales. The Boxster/Cayman series first-quarter sales of 3,248 units were 85 percent ahead of the same period last year, while the 911 series total of 2,839 units was 23 percent greater than the three-month total in 2005. Cayenne sales in March were up 2 percent compared to the same period of 2005, bringing the first-quarter total of 2,997 units close to last year's three-month volume of 3,093.

Porsche U.S. March sales rise 13.8%
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Porsche AG's (DE:693773 : DE:693773807.00, +18.70, +2.4%) North American division posted a 13.8% rise in March sales on Monday, to 3,185 from 2,799 vehicles. Of this total, 1,127 are Porsche 911s, the most ever sold in one month in the United States in the model's history, the automaker said

STUTTGART, Germany (AFX) - Porsche AG said sales in the US and Canada rose to 3,363 units, up 13 pct from the year earlier, achieving the best March results in the region to date.
Growth drivers in March were the sports vehicles, with the 911 model adding 14 pct to 1,199 units, while the Boxter added 33 pct to 1,053.
Of the Cayenne, 1,099 units were sold in March, down slightly from 1,102 units the year earlier.

Porsche Cars North America Reports March Sales for Canada
Sports Cars Help Kick Start Sales Momentum ATLANTA, April 3 /CNW/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA),
importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United
States and Canada, today announced March sales in Canada. The company sold a
total of 178 Porsches, on par with sales of 182 units in March 2005, and
nearly twice the volume of last month's sales of 97 vehicles. Year-to-date
sales of 380 units are down 6 percent compared to the first three months of
2005.
While there is still a reduction in the overall numbers, demand for
Porsche sports cars has picked up speed. Boxster/Cayman series sales of 58
units marked a 21 percent increase over the same period last year. Total sales
of the 911 series of 72 units were up 9 units from March of last year, while
total Cayenne sales of 47 units were 23 units less than in March of 2005.
In addition, dealers sold 26 Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned

Amazing figures but unfortunately sales figures for a new model are never entirely accurate. For example unlike in subsequent years the figures are bouyed by the purchase of press cars, extra demo cars and in some cases cars registered to the manufacturer to boost overall figures. Plus the affect of long standing orders placed by speculators and/or people that have subsequently cancelled orders. they still register as sales even if they just end up on the forecourt or the speculator struggles for months to shift them.

this however does and would not account for all the sales that Porsche USA have registered. So in this example I defer to the figures even if I do find them surprising.
Purely objectively I have the luck of living and working very close to what is possibly the biggest market for their product (they brought the Turbo there early as a result). In the car parks of Canary Wharf the number of Boxsters (of both types) and 997s easily outweighs the number of Caymans of the same model year (i've never seen one!)
I realise that that is not exactly scientific but I stand by the feeling that may sway a lot of people, no-one likes to be taken for a mug which is what Porsche seems to think we are.

Any relevant UK or Europe figures?
Just checked with a source who has access to all the relevant figures.
So far the Cayman is outselling its targets (T=9K A=12K). This is mostly via the US. However the fact is that it has little or no opposition to date. The Launch of the Z4 coupe this year is expected to change this. Compared to the Z4 it is considered by industry experts to be overpriced and will suffer in comparison and has been an overpricing too far.
He also firmly believes that the fact that a year old 997 will set you back the same as a similarly specced new CaymanS will begin to tell as the year moves on.
So where does that leave my argument? in no mans land I guess. Mostly wrong but with a chance of being proved right.

seen a few silver Caymans and they all looked dull dull dull
in the stylised, airbrushed, fictionally lit, land of make believe of that web special, red looks lovely
back in the real world think red does not look quite white
personally prefer black, grey, yellow, cobalt, lapis
Caymans in Blue look just incredibly good, Don't know if its cobalt blue or what other shade they do.
Or Atlas grey, looks black but in the right light has that wonderful ability to look a subtle shade of grey.
silver is just unimaginative and red when you see it in the flesh is just plain horrible and cheap looking. especially when someone decides to paint the wheels the same colour as hey had on the one I saw.

Can you find out what the spec is of the demos they have coming for 39k - trying to get a feel for what the base spec is going to be apart from 5 spd and 17ins?

My OPC said they are waiting to find out if the 07 model year "S" will go UP in price.
