I've also been admiring the GT2s for sale at www.gtclassics.co.uk and I have a question.

Have these cars actually appreciated in value or where they even more when they were new?

It's seems bonkers that people are paying >£100k for a 10 year old car. I can appreciate that they are fantastic cars but even so...

IIRC back in 1995 993GT2 road version was around £128k (430bhp, alloy doors, etc.)

Not bonkers, look at the amount of money the older cars are fetching. ST = £250k+, RS lightweights £150k+, 3.0RS £180k+, 2.8RSR - skys the limit.

These cars were produced in limited numbers and original panel cars are becoming hard to find. 213 including race cars and the 21 1998 EVO road cars. Compare this with the numbers of 964 and 993rs that were built and you start to see where the value comes from. Rare compared to 1973rs as well!
