What a nice bloke…

David Batty is! I drove down to see him about Chimera inspections as I am getting closer to getting one and as I pulled up I noticed my VR6 was making some new noises…
Popped the bonnet open and started getting really worried. Noticed that one of the leads was off and there was an intermittent hissing noise – just like if a spark plug was loose! David took a look at it for me. Turned out the plug had come loose and blown the lead off. He checked the thread for me and popped it back in. No more noise and a smoother idle! I did have visions of having to re-tap the head etc thinking the plug had blown out and taken the thread with it!

I offered to pay but he refused. What a nice bloke.

Oh, and if any one is interested, David Batty charges £40 + VAT for an inspection. I will be taking any Chimeras I look at to David for a once over. Well worth it for the piece of mind.

For those that don’t know where David Batty is (not many I guess), he is just south of Guildford off the A3 at Jacksons Corner.

Rog

P.S Hope this doesn’t contravene the “name and shame” – more of a “name and praise”!?

i'm nowhere near so will not be using him, but that sounds like a bloody bargain, particularly when compared to the AA RAC etc.
save a world of pain later as well.

Nice bloke he may be, but if he'd put away that penalty against Argentina in the 98 World Cup, we might have gone all the way to the final.

Think I saw your s3 Schnozz.
Also an Imperial blue Griff having its sump re fitted.

I must agree with the comments about David batty. I had a 24K major service done on Monday and found him to be the most helpful and informative chap I have dealt with since owning my TVR.
On top of this, my major service cost half the price of the last minor service done at a main dealer.

I know where Im going in 6000 miles time!!!!

Not a lot of people know this, but Dave used to do all the servicing for AutoTek, the used car place on the same site as The Garage which seems to have cornered the market in low mileage high price Corrado VR6s.

As a result Dave looks after my Corrado VR6, Chimaera 500 and Cosmic's Elan SE Turbo because - you've guessed it - Dave is pretty knowledgeable about the Elan too!
