2002 996 Targa - guide price

Hi,

have been taking lots of good advice from people and would like a little more... How realistic are my expectations of hitting the following on a £35k budget? What should my guide price be if I am willing to be a little patient and how much of a premium should I be expecting to pay for a Targa (i.e. how much could I get similar spec. for if I was less fussy, history + warranty = a must).

SPEC:
Good condition 2002 996 Targa S Tiptronic,
Mileage under 30k,
Silver with black interior,
Full OPC history,
Full 1 years warranty,
Been through 48k service,
Equipped with tracker &
Nothing major picked up on Peter Morgan inspection funded by myself & 12 months MOT.

look at Portiacraft I believe they have one just a little over your budget. From what Ive seen you may just be able to buy one around your budget if you are prepared to look for long enough

There are dealers giving away such cars for £28k

Seriously, you are probably looking at £36k to £39k depending on spec and condition. If you compromised on mileage, you would get one for £35k.

Have a scout through the ads on here for a good idea of prices.

Got my pretty high spec, but pretty high miler (mainly motorway miles - Rob at S&C knew a friend of the previous owner and confirmed), and IMHO very good condition Targa for 37 in the end. Has the 18" carrera alloys, artic silver with black leather, PCM 1, litronics, rear parking sensors, small artic silver pack and centre console, BOSE, CD Changer and FPSH

I think you pay probably £2-3k over that of a coupe to get the targa, mainly i think because so few are ever on sale. I had been on the look out since march. The OPC's only had about 8 at one time, and all north of £40k with very low specs. Cridfords had a nice one, but literally for a day i think. The bigger name indies i think tend not to have them on the books that long, so a good idea to keep an eye on some of the smaller ones if the price isnt right on the one you are looking at.

But all in a lovely car - ive not had many sunny days but the roof has been back every time possible so far and really enjoy it. And it's a tip, and so far am enjoying the benefits of not buggering my knees any more when im sitting in traffic trying to get out of london!
