who wants early GT3

have been into porsche mayfair today to ask about GT3 and was told i could have a car by the end of the year or early next year.they had no info at the moment but took my name and address and told they will contact me when turbo is launched as they will have a GT3 in the show room aswell. as they are in central london have plenty of orders for turbo tiptronic but not many for GT3 as this is manual only.

Don't think the 10 grand deposit is helping much either!

Who knows.
If the 997 GT3 is as good as predicted, then demand will firm up, and could even exceed supply.
I think this will be good for the 996 GT3, as it will benefit from all the attention being focussed on the new car, yet will look like superior value. Also, there are a lot more people prepared to spend £40-60k on a road/track car than the near £90k a new 997 GT3 will cost.
Just my opinion, but I would be more optimistic about GT3 residuals than TT residuals.

I've had an order down since April 2004 for a GT3 and have been told that I am second on the list and should expect delivery about Dec06.
This doesn't match with what everybody else says to be honest.
Are dealers creating a false level of demand for this car? Are they really only getting 2 cars this year? (4 over the whole model year)

My OPC, with whom I have dealt since the 1980s, has a similar allocation, although the numbers may increase slightly. I believe UK production has been pegged at 150 units for 2007MY.
In a separate conversation with Porsche management, I was told that they believe they have customers for all these cars, but some prospective buyers have not confirmed their orders for a variety of reasons - awaiting confirmation of build dates, awaiting launch/initial road tests, want to see one in the 'flesh, want RS details first, etc.
I would assume that all the early cars are spoken for, but there may well be some availability if someone is sufficiently persuasive. A lot depends on how well it is received at launch and the RS spec.

So can I assume that my dealer isn't being quite as forthcoming, considering he claims I am second on the list, yet won't get a car until Jan07?
