I almost hesitate to start yet another thread on asylum seekers, but this just beggars belief.

According to the Daily Telegraph today

"Aslyum seekers at the Government's flagship immigration reception centre are costing the taxpayer more than 9,000.00 pounds per week EACH"

Now where's my brochure for the dirty weekend at the Ritz that I'm planning? Doesn't the best suite there cost a shade less?

I heard on the radio earlier, that the government are worried that vigilante groups may take matters into their own hands - surely this is proof enough that the general populus have had enough, and therefore the government should do something about it!?

hmmmm...I heard earlier today that an asylum seeker now has to make a claim within 24 hours of getting here, and if they do they get £38 a week to live on, if not than nothing. How can it cost £9000 a week to house them??!

It's already begun. The 'refugee' neighbour of a friend had his untaxed, uninsured and probably taxpayer paid-for car torched during the fireman strike – it was no accident.

I can't see how these here's money for a car Mr Asylum seeker stories are real. I mean how can they even afford to run it on a daily basis let alone tax/insure it? Or do they have asylum fuel in special low untaxed pumps?

the centre cost 4.5 Million to build, and costs 14 Million per year to run - God only knows how they manage to run up those running costs. It currently houses 32 asylum seekers. Hey presto!
