European cover!

Thinking about my near journey to Le-mans and not that i dont have 110% faith in the old girl, im making sure that i have european cover for breakdown!
Anyone know where i can get this/where people have got it before? All the companies i have tried so far (RAC, Greenflag and other internet found ones) have said no older than 1990 for all covered cars and mines a 1989! POO!
AA have said yes but its £56for 4 days which seems a bit steep compared to dads ultima which is £28...
Any ideas folks?

well ive already got RAC but knew it wasnt covered...ill try and give them a call as only done it online so far...
As for insurance, i took off EVERY extra cost to justify the money i was spening in the first place!
Im with Elephant.co.uk who, i have to say, are VERY good and VERY helpful....Funny, they were the only company who would insure me!
Funny... my insurance phone calls all went something like 'Can i have insurance on a 400SE tvr please...yes its a 4 litre....yes 3 years no claims....and im 21....(CLICK) burrrrrrrrrr....hello???'
£1200 for ten months...bargain! Should include breakdown really!

I pay about £230 a year inc. breakdown cover. I only have 1 years no claims to use on this policy (I'm only 29 too).

I contemplated getting a Tuscan for my everyday car but the £800 insurance price tag put me off! Am I just tight?
Well, the only reason they insured me was because of my company car being my main vehicle!
It is a lot of money...most companies said ;once your 25, you are eligible for discounts' etc...
basically i called the whole world for insurance and this is the best i could get!

That's interesting Rev. - I'm also with Classicline, sub-£300 premium, but no mention of Euro cover. So I buy RAC cover, including Euro recovery. Is yours a special policy?

Turns out, that if you call the RAC and ask them about their policy for cars over ten years old, say your in a car club (eg TVR club) and also that you got tehir number on line and your in for a good price!
If you say your in a car club, the extra price is waived..jolly good of them! Then say that your a RAC member (if you are) and you get a further 10% off. Then say that you found their number online and you get a further 5% off!
Turns out that cars between 5-8 years old are at the highest risk of breakdown, according to RAC! So dads ultima was £42 and my TVR for their comprehensive cover is £32.49! BARGAIN!

Gonna do the usuals but trying to eliminate any potential problems! I know, from personal experiance, that its usually the silliest things!
One year, whilst cruzing/burning things off the lights etc in the ultima with dad, we had a main water hose split at one end as it slipped when the jubillee clip somehow broke!
Anyhow, getting a new jubille clip in lemans on saturday evening...'Ah you english B&starde in your flash motorer carrr, i charge you 20 euro for a jubille clip'

Saying that though, my mates dutton rad cap went last year on the journey and a guy in a small garage gave us a new one-for free!

yeah...good list..my tool kit for lemans usually comprises of jubilee clips, electrical tape, aluminium tape, cable ties, couple of screw drivers + spanners and a curly wurly!
