Shocks

Hi Guys, Cerby is being serviced at Leven, all ok, however needs new shocks all round. Leven can supply. However they know im going to ask about, but does anyone know where i can get them from cheaper? Anyone know who does a good deal on them.

Manifold cracked as well ,but thats another story :-)

What shocks do you mean?
If you want the cheapest avail then get AVOs. They are a good shock.
If money is really tight then ring joolz and buy some second hand original fitments.
IF you want better shocks at mid price then try gazman on here or try Joolz for his ProTEchs.
OR go for more money with Nitrons.

Thanks for your reply. Im just after cheap as poss shocks to be honest! Im not a track day man, just looking for something to get me through next MOT ha ha.

Or just try your nearest AVO supplier or nearest indie garage.
IF budget is your driver then I would say go for AVOs, 2nd hand dampers are a lottery. I think AVOs can be had for under £100 each? So all in you could get away with £500 potentially?

If you want real cheap, either look on here or on eBay for some second-hand shocks from someone who has upgraded.

I think the "cooking" ProTechs are pretty cheap, and are ally-bodied unlike the steel-bodied AVOs.

I just got a set of Gaz Gold and I am well impressed. I'm not a track day boy, and didnt want to spend a fortune on Nitrons, they are fully adjustable and they transformed the car. And not a bad price either

These are the TVR car club shocks and come in at £646.25 including VAT and delivery. If you want to fit yourself, talk to Neil at TVR Car Parts, if you want them fitted just about all the independants and some of the main dealers can supply and fit.

Edited to add, Guglielmi at Daventry or Horizon in Cradley Heath can give you more information

Yes
The double adjustable alloys with bearing joints that JonnyW is using are £928.25 including VAT and delivery.
They appear to work quite well on the Cerb, according to Jonny and Andy at APM anyway.

Yes you can but they will steer you towards me anyway as my kits are exclusive and they don't sell to the public.

I am having a set of the single adjustable shocks fitted by APM this week.

As Gazman says the double adjustables have my vote!

I have had two different types of single adjustables before and I have to say that these are really the best balance now for the Cerb. I have been able to put on substantial springs and with the stiffness and rebound set properly by Andy (APM), Dave (of Gaz) and the Gazman. Gazman now has all the settings from this day at Brands.

IMO it is worth the additional money to get a set-up that is capable of absorbing the bumps and holes in our underinvested UK roads and yet is stiff enough for what is a very capable supercar. The car is smoother and feels more sophisticated on the open road. It doesn't bump, crash or bottom out as you don't have to compromise the shocks for the springs and movement.

Of course they really come into their own on the track.

I wouldn't compromise for what is only another £300 on a car that is handling 370 bhp (thanks to Andy's rebuild), it's a Cerb after all and you have to see it in perspective that this is less than 5% of your average annual expenditure including fixing, insurance and petrol.
