I picked up the new CBR600RR at the weekend, went out on it tonight just got back and the tank is all scratched up. Got the ticut out quickly to polish up my new pride and joy to realise that it is a plastic tank, am i stupid for not realising this??? The old CBR600F i had was metal.

This has obviously p!ssed me off and leads me onto why dont the like of Honda etc put Tank pads on as standard if they know the tank will scratch??

I am going to have to buy one sharpish now, any good places recommended???

Cheers

Have a Google search and check out Ebay for the brand names - something will show up...

Tanks scratch easily, my GSXR isn't exactly looking new anymore!

I bought a fairly plain Motografix one and i use my bike in all weathers and it sticks nicely. Dont buy the cheap rubber ones as they tend to lift and come off looking tacky.

I've never been keen on tank pads so have fitted some of that clear protection film (like 'Venture Shield', I think it's called, as used on cars) on my tank. It keeps the looks while protecting the paint. If it gets tatty after a couple of years I'll simply replace it - result!
