I am looking to organise a shopping event at the local community centre - having mlm companies and private sellers with a table each.

I work for Usborne Books and Busy Fingers, and if I go to do an event, some require me to have Public Liability Insurance. How do I stand on the other side of the fence? Would I need any insurance as the organiser, or is it down to the individual sellers?

As the organiser you would be responsible. Do you have any sort of PL cover for your business? If so you probably best seeing if your current insurer could extend the policy wording for you.

Would it not be covered by the PL insurance of the community centre? I am in the process of looking at insurance for myself.

It depends what they were claiming for. If they tripped over a power cable left by you or one of your traders, then no, as you were negligent. If the community centre sign over the door fell off and hit a punter on the head then yes!
