Pic and guide needed

Starter motors knackered on the car so iam going to remove it tommorow and get it re-furbished, has anybody got a how to guide how to remove it, pics would be a great help and iam not 100% what the starter looks like
its a 4.2

Starter is above the bellhousing I think you can get access fron above (remove fuel rail etc) but stand to be corrected. hth

I was able to remove mine by just removing the air pipes and the near side air box; I didn't need to remove the fuel rail. It is then just held on by 2 allan bolts.

I did this yesterday, no real hassle, took about 20 minutes.

I did remove the fuel rail as it just looked a lot easier to get big hands down to the starter.

Cut the cable ties holding everything in place, and have some ready to reattach pipework when finished.

Only tools needed, a couple of allen keys and a 13mm spanner.

Please check the rail. I did this and blew the rail off the following day as it hadn't properly seated.

The fuel had filled the V and was running down the back of the engine!!!

I then had the joy of watching a bloke strip the threads as he attempted to give me a roadside hand!!

Yep, been there John, I nicked an O-ring last time, and you're quite right fuel sloshing around the Vee really is a wake up call isn't it. As for the stripped threads! Aghhhhh

I'll be at Abingdon, even if I have to push the bl**dy thing around, I'm just wondering what's going to fall off next.

If its a 4.2 you'll have to at least remove the fuel rail or you might find it easier to remove the entire intake in one lump
