Hi Petrol Ted, I tried using the Alt code for the infinity symbol (Alt + 236) in a post and it comes out like this - ∞, it should of course look like a small number eight turned on it's side.
Then I noticed that when I actually submitted my reply that the plus symbol that I had typed between Alt and 236 shows up in the Reply box but not the Preview pop-up.
I've used some Alt codes in past posts like the symbol for the British pound and the degree symbol and was just wondering why some Alt codes work and others don't.
Thank you for your interest and time.

The preview window is a bit of a special case as the way it's created does result in some slightly different renderings (totally undesirable in a preview window of course!).
The issue of extended or special character codes is an absolute minefield programatically which is why some work and some don't.
