Radio reception in my chim is crap (very localised). Has anybody fitted an external aerial or improved the aerial amp fitted as standard? Am I correct in saying that the Tuscan has an aerial on the boot? Cheers, Nick.

I heard the boot ariel was for Tuscans with the DAB radio. Waste of money IMO (the radio) and completely ruins the look of the car. You could try a bigger plastic ariel in the boot/behind the panel above the tank, but I'd think twice about an external ariel. Or, listen to CDs/

I fitted a booster and aerial tucked behind the seats. Made damn-all difference. So I follow Trefor's advice and listen to CDs -- though in summer I do miss Test Match Special on long wave ... :-( -Manek-

Test match special ... I'll assume you're joking. When you're in a TVR you can't listen to flippin' cricket. Heavy metal/something with a good beat is compulsory! You'll be swapping the IQ reducer for a flat cap next. :-)

What happens when the BBC lose the contract for the cricket (like everything else)? Championship indoor bowls perhaps? Or do I get a yuppy dish fitted to the boot?

LAte 80's sierras and escorts dont have aerials instead the heated rear window acts as the aerial and they have a signal booster which connects the element and the radio. I bought one from a breakers for £4.50 and intendto use it on my M- also using the power output in the signal booster (originally for the heated rear window heating) for an electric aerial. Not actually doen it yet though cos I have to remove the fuel tank (a winter job)so it might not be feasable/work.

It's not easy to do that on a Chimaera/Griffith though ... Maybe the signal booster could be used alone?

Don't often listen to anything except the sound of the engine - but test match special is great for traffic jams! (LW reception in mine is bad, too, no bad thing given england's performance in cricket this summer)

My chimp came with uprated stereo + cd stacker in boot. What a waste - I've never listened to it. Much prefer the sound of the engine.
Generally, I agree. I just want to have the option in, as has been mentioned, traffic jams or on those rare occasions that England might be winning a match.... -Manek-

Just to add my tuppence, I tried a booster, no change. I've bought a screen aerial/booster thing from Maplins. I tried it by just hooking it up and was underwhelmed, but I need to give it a proper go. Proabably another 10 quid down the drain to keep the 10 quid for the booster company. I don't get it. How hard can it be to get some reception?

Someone once said that GRP is effectively opaque to radio waves. Other than that, it's a very good question... -Manek-
