Worth taking note of: supposedly there for 12 months, meaning forever.

...again folk will be focusing on their speedometers, rather than looking out for road hazards.

i.e: Workmen and cars suddenly braking (common during roadworks).

Could prove more problematic that safe.

The article indicates there is a 40 mph stretch, for 5 miles, and it is aimed at catching those who speed up between cameras, I dont see a problem with that, if there are road works, and workmen on the road, then a reduction in speed is called for.

The reduction in speed will add a humoungous 3.2 MINUTES to your journey.

Oh the joy of "Cruise control", stress free motoring, if your thinking of a new car, consider it, in my view, best thing since sliced bread.

Totally agree, but frustrating when driving back home to Dundee last night at around 10pm when the workmen are nowhere to be seen - prolly in the pub

As an aside, I had the opportunity to stretch the legs on the RS6 (not on this stretch!) - do these things not have speed limiters on on them?

I'l be driving down there myself in a couple of weeks, is it down to one lane, and is it one lane at nights also?

If its two lanes, wonder why they do not relax the limit at that time? At least heading south, you have the satisfaction of knowing you'll soon be on the M90....

Thanks for the info. One has to wonder, so its dual carriageway ALL THE TIME, I can understand why the reduction whilst men are working, but at night? is it beyond comprehension to relax the 40 mph limit.

We drove up past them on Sunday and then back....there were no roadworks either of the times (once in the morning, and again in the evening)
It seems like they've just reduced the speed there because of the cameras because it doesn't look as if any other work is being done

sorry, i had to post in here about this utter nonsense!

we were on this road at 12:30am monday, not a workman in site and not even another bloody car in site. on an empty dual carriageway and getting made to drive at 40mph is ridiculous.

If you think this is daft try this, due to single lane on Forth Road bridge, and 4 lanes coming into one heading North, the approach limit on the dual carriageway is reduced to 30 mph way back, as the traffic is stationary during the day, there is a need for it.

However at 9 at night, nowt on the road, and you have to crawl along all on your lonesom at 30 mph as you approach the bridge on a dual carriageway.

With all this high tech on average speed cameras etc, surely they could devise a variable speed detector based on numbers of vehicles passing fixed points? or is that really rocket science?

Not sure but I think the reduction to one lane is only at weekends, anyone confirm one way or another
