Looks like my battery is giving up the ghost, not charging properly or holding the charge it has. Went to start the car one morning and there was nothing there. At first I thought an interior light had een left on, but nothing.

After jump starting it, disconnecting the 'jump' battery, and after running it for a while I was able to switch off the engine, then restart it so I presume the alternater must be providing charge. I then hooked up a friends trickle charger overnight however it was almost completely flat again this morning.

I jump started it again tonight and took it out for a good run and the car was able to restart with no issue. It's garaged now, however if the battery is flat tomorrow I presume the battery is duff.

I've had not trouble before now, nothing new drawing power inside the car. Has anyone got any other advice or similar experience?

Can anyone recommend a replacement model/supplier? I don't fancy going to the main dealer as I'll probably have to sell one of the children to pay for it.

thanks

could be a short somewhere?
Why not get the AA man out - they've got the tools to test for it. Saves you shelling out ££s needlessly if the battery is not the problem.

Had this before i got rid of mine. Car was stood for a few weeks. When i went to start it, it was totally flat. Put it on trickle (i forgot! before you ask). No joy. Got the AA man out and he said it was really discharged. So he hooked it up for 10 mins, then had to leave my car ticking over for about 45 mins. Then took it for a drive. Fine from then of. OH, and kept the bloody trickle charge plugged in from then on!

The V8 kicked into life perfectly this morning - and it was sunny too. Both factors mean I will play golf this evening afterall!

Seems strange however as I was driving last night I heard a rattle from under the passenger seat. When I got home I fished around and pulled a pair of my wife's sunglasses (crushed) from underneath, and they were quite warm.

Could be right Patrick - he only thing I can think of is that they somehow shorted the cables that dangle under the seat. My car's not got the option of heated seats but the wiring is there for them.

Whether that was the problem or not, don't know, but keeping my fingers crossed.
