G'day all,

I know this has been asked before many of times, could someone please direct me in the way of a wiring harness that utilises the existing the stereo controls on the steering wheel when replacing the Holden Head unit?..The guys at the stereo places here (Newcastle Australia) seem to think it can't be done and I'm sure that I have read in a past post that someone over there in the UK has done it. I'm thinking of upgrading to an Alpine Head Unit and would love to keep the controls on the steering wheel functional. By the way, I have a 2006 SV6, a Commodore really, with the SS body kit and suspension.

Yeah, I bought some from a company in Melbourne. Will have to go through and have a look at who they are. I know they had the VT/VX ones, cause I have 10 of them still. (Anyone want one?). They should be able to sort you out for a VY/VZ one I would have thought. You can't generally deal with them directly, but will have to find out who they are again.

I have done it also i put a Blaupunkt screen - DVD all the gear and they got it to work from the wheel it is basically a patch lead from the stereo to the wheel it deffinately can be done if they are saying no i would recommend going else where as they really have no idea. I will see if i can find out what the lead is called.

Cheers

Gday aussiedude, try Autobarn, i believe they sell interfaces for steering wheel remotes and aftermarket stereo's.
Ask them for CAT09, and there is a Alpine Direct Plug available (Part # CATALPPRCC) to plug directly into Alpine models with rear 3.5mm plug feature.

G'day V-Car,

I will do that for sure. At the moment all I can come up with is infra-red devices. Trouble now is that I realise with the VZ models, (not sure if the same applies for the VY) but I would still love to have display on my speedo cluster of volume, radio freq, track number etc, but I have a sneaky feeling that this won't be possible once I change the Blaunkput head unit..
