Peugeot wanted £500+ to do the job on 3+ servicing rates 
I can get an OE clutch for £80 from a local parts place, then another £20 ish for a new cable.
Does anyone know what kind of labour rates a good garage would charge if I supplied the parts?
Would like to do it myself, but basically can't be arsed after spending about 12 hours messing with the cambelt, service, fitting new tyres and numerous other jobs last weekend.
Peugeot said it was a 5hr job. I was looking around the £150 mark if I supplied parts? Is this reasonable?

Hello Dave, YHM (Hotmail).They gave me a quote of £371 for fitting the OE kit Rich
Another independant was £378
Pug express MSF Leeds were £300
Seems Pug express is the way to go, and it's only 15 mins up the road. Will probably do the cable DIY *if* it needs doing at a later date... usually a good idea to do them from what I hear because of the auto-adjusters drying up and potentially wearing the new clutch prematurely.

Yeah I'm surprised by the cost, but it's a fairly compacted engine bay by all accounts, lots has to come out.

Erm, nah, I'd get shocks for the Griff! You'll appreciate them more on your "driving" car than a slightly newer but no more thrilling daily driver imho.

sometimes ! Well have reduced wear and tear on the hack by cycling 10 miles in to work today
TVR owners are a nutty bunch you know

PS : You ever thought of chipping the HDi, isn't it poss to get another 20bhp?
120PS (118bhp) seems the happy medium for TUV approved chippers in Germany, ie Speedbusters.
Superchips err on the lower side with 112bhp, and then some other tuners offer 125bhp.
First thing is getting the car in top notch OE condition really, I can't really stand not having a car at least near 100% in the important areas, otherwise it ruins the ownership experience.
Tempted to get Pug Express to do the clutch, but it is £200 ontop. Suppose if I do it DIY then thats £200 towards other stuff!?
Still not 100% with the tensioner/roller that I didn't replace. **Think** they are worn and don't want it going pop

Ah Retford, not that far away really.
If you supply the parts how much would you charge for the clutch kit fitted, inc VAT? Makes it easier if it's all done by you warranty wise etc.
How many hours do you have down to fit a tensioner and roller for the cambelt? I did the cambelt service (belt, waterpump, bottom pulley) but sure the tensioner is at it's best. So it'd be covers off, tensioner and roller off (maybe bottom pulley off again), new tensioner and roller on, re-time/fit covers... think the two components are about £80inc vat.

I have built/rebuilt so many cars, minis caterhams bmw imps etc but look under the bonnet of the wifes 306HDi and cower....too many pipes and stuff, not enough room.
The bolt holding the A/C came adrift nacking the pulley, it needed a cam belt and water pump removal (change) to fix, it cost £500 at Peugeot dealer.

Yep, can't beat an older car.
My old XR4x4 was actually fun to work on. All bolts were accessible (ish), and it was built like a car should be, with maintainance in mind.
Even my Gti6 was easy ish to work on, but modern CAD and packaging from 2000>on seems to just squash everything in a sardine tin!
Next car will be a VX220, not much to go wrong, and what does is in a tub behind the seats

Dave ,the booked time for the belt is 3.8 hrs so £114 max as i can't beleieve it will take me that long.if i supply the clutch it will most likely be an LUK and would be £95 .
Gompo i have just done a gti 6 clutch ,booked time 7 hrs took nearly 11 .I wouldn't want to do one for less than £400 having done one.

Ah well, got it done yesterday (Saturday)
I won't say where for name and shame reasons, but the courtesy car was a Daweoo Matiz and I went to somewhere in Leeds city centre.
Anyway, clutch seems fine, as does the cable they fitted, all in at £335.
Did new driveshaft oil seals and new gearbox oil.
Had a few teething problems, driveshaft oil seal was leaking, and the clutch cable bulkhead bung was not fitted properly so lots of engine noise and smells into the footwell. A clip was missing and some bits not re-fitted properly too... bit annoying when you pay £££, worst bit is having to find time to go back again!
Update:
Took it in this afternoon (Monday) and had it 2.5 hrs re-doing the inner driveshaft oil seal and re-setting the clutch cable bung.
Seems to be sorted now which is nice, just half a day holiday used up
