Looking to borrow a Gallardo
Discussion
morning... first post on this forum.. some of you may know me as exigeboy over on www.exiges.com, but I doubt it, given this is the FEZ/MAZ/LAMBO forum.
In a nutshell - I'm trying to hire a Gallardo for a weekend, but haven't been able to get a sensible quote from any of the usual suspects...
Looking for a Friday 7pm to Monday 10am hire, 700 mile allowance. I will provide proof of insurance, fuel, misc charges etc.
Any takers? I'm 25, with 8 years NCD, and have been driving elises/exiges for the last 3 years.
Cheers

The £5k excess sounds quite good!
With the greatest of respect - the car you drive and the mentality you have, as mature as it may be, has no bearing on someone trying to loan you such a car.
The time of year (sunny), the period you want it for (covering 4 days, albeit only 2 full ones) and your age (I'm surprised you can even get a quote - most say min 30) I don't think it's THAT unreasonable. Especially the excess.
Let me stess, not trying to have a go here - I'm a 25yr old Elise driver and so this isn't a 'ere sunny jim' type post
I just wonder if your sights are set a bit too unrealistically. I would say that there is no price RISK in those figures. The risk is the excess...£5k...which is down to you, which is very good. The 3.5k is simply their cost to you for driving a supercar.
Take a look at somewhere like here www.sportscarshire.co.uk/?content=lamborghini%20gallardo - their prices dont seem that extreme.

got it down to £3500 with £5k excess
i price risk all day long and that, i can assure you, is the wrong price for the amount of risk!
For that money how about www.blipcars.com/blip.html or similar

And there have been questions in the past as to the actual existance of the cars mentioned on their site...
May be worth contacting www.ecurie25.co.uk - they are a membership based club but maybe they'd be able to do a deal of some kind for you? Their black Gallardo is very nice.

I wish you well, but frankly I wouldn't lend/hire my car to anyone for less than 10K and I'm not even sure I would at that figure. And I don't even own a Gallardo! Quite a few of the early Gallardos have had issues with their clutch, and it's not a cheap job to get them replaced. An owner will drive accordingly, but someone who has no vested interest in the car can't be trusted not to trash the clutch, which won't be covered by any insurance premium.
As I say I wish you well, but it's going to be a very brave owner who is likely to take you up on your offer.

my target is £2500 for the hire, impartial to the insurance excess as dont intend having to claim
£2500 = 350p/mile ex fuel/insurance/etc
That is probably what it costs per mile for the companies interest on purchasing the car, depreciation, servicing, tyres and clutches the drivers go through.
On top of that they probably want to make some money on the venture through some of the peak days of the whole year.
