People have been a bit down recently, so in a vain attempt to inject some humour into the GS, since it's a Friday and we're closing in on February.... Valentines Day - Discuss.

Got any funny stories? Tales to tell? What you've bought a loved one that was great / crap / thrown in the bin? etc etc...?

Couple of year ago Mrs and I spent Valentines day tiling my garage roof. Think she's quite keen on me

Nor does Mrs Podie.. personally I don't see the point. If I can't tell her that I love her the other 364 days in the year... why bother in the first place?

Now that could set off a whole new thread, Podie! We females take Valentines very seriously you know. Blokes can swear undying love all year round, but if we don't get Valentines we can get upset...

Hmm valentines day...

As it looks like im spending this coming one on my lonesome (barring any last minute acts of god...) then its NOT my favourite day of the year!

Last year I was given a small fluffy teddy bear, an expensive bottle of wine and (The third part of the present doesnt bear repeating on here methinks...)

The sickening thing was I wasnt expecting to see her until the week after Valentines day (long distance relationships can be a nightmare sometimes).
So her pressie wasnt there when she showed up out of the blue to suprise me...

That made me popular!

Too right, I don't get any Valentines either even off Mr Fish or a Christmas card for that matter. I'm even wondering if I'll get a Birthday card this year

yeah - all this greetings card thing kinda falls by the wayside once you're in a serious relationship..

last xmas I didn't get Mrs Zee an Xmas card & I got chewed out royally by her & her mum.. fair enough, said I... so this xmas I made sure I got her a nice card etc.. you should have seen her face when I gave it her on Xmas day - it was instantly clear that she hadn't bothered to get me one.. it was priceless.. such a quality victory..

Mrs Podie's idea though SGirl... so, I'm in the clear!

(having said that we're going to Iceland to celebrate two years together... which is not going to be cheap. Hmm... think I've been done...)

A few years back I forgot to book a restaurant for Valentines - BIG MISTAKE. Lass and I (now ex - hmmm wonder if this had anything to do with it!) wandered around Lancaster for about 2 hours no luck - ended up having takeaway pizza in the car - a lowly Mk 1 Golf of all things.

Needless to say she was rather less than overawed

So at what point into a relationship is it acceptable to opt out of all Hallmark sponsered card/gift giving 'days'
Personnely racegirl gets no cards for anything, and I wouldn't expect anything back, £2 for a crap joke, no thanks
And as for being in a resturant on valentines day I would rather stick matchsticks up my fingernails, all those 1st date/newly married/just started dating types holding hands over the table, it's enough to put me off my happy meal
