Does anyone know of such a thing as a Haynes Manual for a 280i, Im an ex-brummie now living in Florida and just bouht my first wedge needless to say parts are hard to come by and pictures would help alot

I think it's fair to say there isn't.

Steve Heaths Bible (The TVR Wedges) (Here) covers most of it, then an assortment of the Ford Granada MkII, Ford Capri 2.8i, Ford Cortina MkIV/V should cover the rest.

You'll need the Steve Heath Bible (A must for all Wedgers)
I'd also recommend the Mk2 Granada manual, should cover the 2.8i engine, and the front brakes.
I've also got a Jaguar XJS manual for the rear brakes / Diff, Mines a 350i, I think the 280's used the same kit though.

There are no haynes manuals for any TVR's..

My (Haynes) Capri 2.8i manual gives an American address as Haynes Publications Inc, 861, Lawrence Drive, Newbury Park, California 91320. Don't know if they're still there.

ISBN 1 85010 309 7

That will give you the engine and gearbox info.
I believe the 2.8 Capris were marketed as 'Mercurys', and that they also did a non-injection version.

Those stateside 280s must be damned slow with all the emissions stuff.

I hv a photocopy of the tvr manuals which cost me an arm and three legs..My plan is to scan them this summer and put them on a cd or on the internet if I can find space...

the 280i bottom end came to n america in the early 80s but was a carb job..the fuel injectors system was in volvo, vw and ??Bosch Keytronics..oh oh look look see the silly siamese exhaust manifold.
it will run without the fancy smog stuff but not if you need to be tested.. xjs rear end apparently..inboard brakes..got a set of front pads when I was in the uk..local napa can get the old metal backing plates relined..for both front and rear..

eclectic parts list is nightmare since many are hard to cross ref..paid a fortune for clutch slave cylinder only to find that it could be had through moss motors...triumph parts! If you are interested in the scan of the tvr manuals, drop me a note at [e-mail]

we north americans will hv to work together to find some options..eg. I need the door switch for the interior lights.

in spite of... it is still fun to drive and I have only met a few people who have even heard of a tvr..met one at a dairy queen who said that I made his day..he was from eastern Canada and had never seen one live.
