I think he has made a good choice, the sport would have not been the same without him. This season should turn out to be a spectacle!! Roll on the 800cc's too.

I think he really was tempted; if you won so many times in succession, I guess the challenge is lost so you start to look for your challenges elsewhere - had this season not gone so badly I think he would have defected to F1, but that's not the way the cookie has crumbled.
Agree with that, had he been way in the lead now then I'm sure he would have gone. Reading Ross Brawn's statement he sounded like he actually did want Rossi to go... Having said that, Schumacher is going to go sooner rather than later and if Yamaha get the bike right I still can't see anyone beating Rossi this season, so in two seasons time he can go with his reputation seeled by this season and all is good!
If Yamaha get the bike right though...
My 2p worth....
Rossi and Burgess will try to absolutely DOMINATE in Mugello.
If they can come away from Italy with fastest lap and a win, then I think Rossi can go for for the win at the rest of the tracks, subject to lady luck.
If he can win this season, he will obtain virtual godlike status anyway, but I fancy he will stay and try to win the 1st year of 800cc.
Thus, he will have won the championship in 3 differnt phases -
1- The last of the 2 stroke era.
2- The first of the Moto Gp era
3- The first of the 800cc era.
Whatever happens, he has given us some utterly breathtaking examples of how to to ride a competition motorycle beyond the edge.
Best of luck to him.
Least he has a personality...............Pedrosa, you listening ?

I think that statement you made there is bang on the money. Rossi is very aware of historical events, he's always making references to past-masters, Ago, Hailwood, Sheen etc etc He wants go down in history {as if he wouldn't!} for those three eras as well as his multi class wins at 125 & 250. The longer he stays the longer he makes Honda look so very foolish.

IM glad, ive been down this year so far....got to admit im a big Rossi fan. Last weekend was a tragedy! I was gutted for him. It seems Yamaha have got the chassis right at last.
Rossi went there for a challenge ...lets face it on Honda no one was near him. Pedrosa can sure ride though!
Im looking forward to a real scrap from here on in.
