That start was quite nice
I think we got more than our fair share of footage this evening, which obviously I'm pleased with.
Mind you, it was my turn to be amused by the commentary tonight (sorry Ian)...
...and Dowling now disappearing into the distance from Holden: picture on screen - No's 6 and 7 within 2 car lengths of each other!
Iain was fortunate with that spin on the first lap - could so easily have ended in the wall.
Nice pass by Mr Hockin round the outside of Graham.
There were one or two very good shots in that programme which really captured the speed of the Tuscans on full chat round Folly.

mmmm yes we've had a fiddle with the notor to make sure that doesnt happen again
I got a bit fed up with the 5ltr v 4ltr battle so we've evened things up a bit

Haven't watched it yet - on my Sky box ready for later! Promise not to make any comments about the voiceover though - too much of a busman's holiday!

I agree, it was a big improvement on the first programme. There were no clangers and the tone was much more up beat. I'm only hyper sensitive as I worked blummin hard to stay with Dazzler - it caused some amusement in our house (i.e. ribbing me!) when he 'disappeared into the distance'

Only just seen the TV footage, I've been at a wedding in Cheltenham this weekend (and killed two cars, my BMW and my mums Rover, getting down there...
). All I can remember from that race was getting an overlap on Cliff off the start then no power again so everyne buggered off into the distance, then spining into the first corner thinking "oh crap my season is over, my season is over..." I also had another spin coming out of the first chicane a bit later in the race, and by about the third lap my plugs had cleared up and I had more power than I or the car could handle...I found out later that the lock nut on the NS rod end had come loose and I finished the race with 9mm of toe-out at the front...anyway thankfully they didn't record at Pembrey so wont see me blowing my clutch...heres to Snet in June, reckon I can be reliable, not have anything come loose and not have the trailer break down on me?

Well I do hope so mate! Forgiveme if this is teaching grandma to suck eggs... spanner check the car after every outing. Every nut and bolt on suspension, steering and brakes. Its the only way. We're toying with the idea of putting torque seal on all the safety critical nuts so we can visually check everything without needing to resort to a spanner.

Andy's righ about spanner checks, in the past we've used paint marks, pins and spanner checked and still had bolts come loose. Its amazing how somthing that will go for 100k miles on the road falls apart after 2 laps of a circuit !!!

I finally managed to see one of the races on tv last night (although I watched it when it was repeated in the middle of the night). Was a good race to watch. The only that I didn't like about the tv coverage was that to me, they showed too much of the race at the front and hardly any of the mid-field and the back of the grid

To be honest, there weren't that many cars out there and as far as I could see there wasn't a lot of action other than at the front.
I know another of the categories that we cover have said that they would like every car to feature in the coverage. My own view is that while a cross-section should be featured, the focus should generally be on the front and the best racing.

I thought the balance was about right. The idea must be to capture the most exciting and interesting action from the race, and mention correctly as many of the other runners as possible when they come into shot. I thought the shot of mark overtaking me was mixed in well with the rest of the action ( curses under his breath, and then cackles like a loon now we have some more power, and the most replayed bit so far has to me Iains spin in the Chimaera.
Are there any plans to screen the Pembrey double header, where we were mixed in with the Welsh sports and saloons as the Class A runners were at snett? Should have been some good overtaking action there, after someone spun at the second corner, got overtaken by the doctors support car, then made it back to 3rd overall (2nd TVR) in 9 laps
before the race was red flagged with about 5 laps to go

When the Tusan Challenge was filmed for Sky, I accepted that there were a limited number of ways of guaranteeing air time for my car:
- winning the race
- having a bloody good battle with someone
- crashing

I think everyone can accept if you're running single class racing and the action is all at the front then that's where the cameras will be looking. Obviously we all want a share of the TV spoils to attract sponsors and while the racing at the front is interesting there were battles further down the field that weren't shown. I seem to recall a race long duel between a Yellow Taz and a green/purple one where places changed several times during the race. Ah well at Pembrey I resorted to Andys other method and had an incident with a Honda.
