Had the clutch slave cylinder go recently so have just had it replaced. Drove the car last night and all was fine. Have just gone to drive away today and my foot almost went through the floor. No pressure at all. I can't see any fluid on the road under the car. Is there anything else (that I can look at) that might be causing this?

I really don't need this, not this weekend!

look around the pedal box and see if there is any fluid around there - could be the master cylinder?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just went to have a look in the footwell and up round the rubber seal. Can't feel any moisture at all and carpets are dry.
Strange seeing as I've just trawled this forum and found plenty of people who had the master go straight after replacing the slave.

Any other thoughts appreciated.

It does sound like the master cylinder, does the pedal feel totally floppy when the engine is running? Does it feel different when the engine is off? Can you engage the gears at all?

It's not totally floppy (like it was when the slave cylinder went two weeks ago).
It's still springy but totally light with no resistance. It returns to it's normal position on its own ok. This is the same whether engine is running or not

Also, I can select gears with engine off but not with in running.

Could it just need bleeding? If so, can I do this myself? I saw a pic somewhere on here showing where the bleed hose is.

Mmmmmm, sounds like the same symtoms as when my master cylinder went. Leave it overnight and in the morning pump the pedal and see if you start to get a bit of normal resistance, you may find that you can get it into gear once the engine is started, it doesn't mean it's ok, but this is what mine did, but I still ended up getting it trailered to get a new master cylinder fitted (not too expensive), but I could have probably driven it, but didn't want to take the risk.

Thanks Jules,

I just need to find a way of getting it 1/4 mile away from my house in the morning - that way I'm covered by the AA Warranty Parts & Labour as well as getting a tow.

1/4 mile is only 440 yards -- you can push it that far (if it's in neutral, of course).

I v8_oatz. I am in Wilthsire. Call me on 07740307925 as I have had almost exactly the same problem as you describe. I may not be able to fix it but may be able to diagnose. I am in the Swindon area.

Cheers

Cheers Ed. In the end I upgraded my AA cover and the car has just been collected and sent to the garage. There was a patch of fluid on the ground under the car (quite small) so I suspect master cylinder seal(?)

Anyhow, I'll know by lunchtime

Let's see, that makes list of repairs/upgrades since purchase in March:

- rad recore
- coil
- magnecores
- plugs
- gaz golds x 4
- front/rear SH droplinks
- slave cylinder
- diff side seals
- trackcar cooling kit (excellent!)
- oil change/filter
- bridgestones x 2
- front splitter

My teeth = gritted

Its getting there, soon should be good and solid.
Dont forget to add some Leventech goodies!

Mind you, the starter-motor could be up next!

Thanks for the encouragement chaps. That was always the plan. I went into Cerb ownership with my eyes open and so expected some 'issues'. Perhaps didn't expect them to come along quite so quickly...

But there we are - I'm a realist. If it means that I get the car sorted quicker than planned then so be it. Just want to start enjoying it soon (ie. whilst I can still afford to put fuel into it!)
