Tasmin Hydrolic Struts

Thanks to everybody for replies to my overheating problems..I will have a renewed go this weekend..Next question!!.My rear glass hydrolic struts are fitted to the bonnet/hood of my vehicle & they have some torque & i find it difficult to close the hood once opened..The original hood struts are missing..I did try & fit the struts back to the rear hatch but they snapped the mount supports..I have this repaired back to full strength but i feel the power of the original struts is too much for the strength of the fiberglass repar..I want to know if there are less strong struts of the right size that i can fit to the Bonnet & hatch to stop the tremendous force imposed by the original struts..I know they are the original struts because they have the cable connections for the heated rear window..????

The correct struts would be marked '100N' - 100 Newtons - which is their lifting force.
Plenty of others will fit but are almost always 200N+, probably enough to rip the mountings out... or at least cause stress cracking of the GRP (or the glass tailgate on a FHC). Incidentally other cars have used the struts to feed the heated rear screen.

I guess you are right..My struts are 300 newtons so can't be original..I have found some Saab 900 bonnet struts today which have the correct compression & are a the proper length.also bought a Peugeot 106 diesel cooling fan which fits without any real problems..just 1 hole to drill in the fan housing.
