My central locking won't work, apparently something to do with the solenoid sticking. Can anybody tell me where this solenoid is, and if poss what the cure is?

Depending on the age of your car there will be either 1 or 2 solenoids. They are in the door pillar behind the seat. There's a carpet covered flap that lifts up. Central locking problems are more likely to be to do with the door switch in the sill. If this stops working the door locking logic wont know the door is shut so will not permit the locking solenoid to operate. If it is the solenoid just take it off and take it down to Maplins, they will be able to provide a replacement

Its located to the left of the seat (on the actual body) iirc. To change it its a 10 min job.

Just found it and had a look. When I press blipper solenoid goes down and engages lock, but then will not come back up again. I can pull it back up manually and open the door with the key. Is this a solenoid problem or a more general electrical problem?

I had that exact problem, it was the solenoid (although it might be worth just checking the connections). There's a writeup here: TVR Chimaera Pages

Had the same problem on both my doors over time easy job to replace the solenoid just be aware the new one may have different connector than original and different colour code. Just need to cut off the old connector and solder to new solonoid wiring. I have new to old colour code so if you get stuck send me a mail.

To get the solenoid out of the car you have to remove the door latch by removing the three allen screws inside the door return and remove the complete plate with solenoid attached. On the back of plate is two self-tapping screws holding the solenoid in place

Hope this helps.
