This is sort of a continuation from the "laugh of my life".

Having had the exhaust done the car now attracts a lot more (unwanted) attention, to me it performs and sounds fine but appears to be pissing a few people off especially when it’s cold. I am not going to fit those additional boxes that you get as a gift when the exhaust is done, in my lifetime anway, just to keep the locals happy. But I do need some kind of cloaking device for where I live. I spend a lot of time out of town and need to go into stealth mode when I get home. Seem to recall reading that there are some flapper deals you can have fitted someplace to the exhaust and operated by a loud/quiet button from inside the cabin. Am realy interested if this can be done by anybody in the UK, would be my next modification, even before the spinney round thing in August.

Loud is good - very loud is better.

Ingredients:
-Take one iron block V8 (much louder than the LS series engines):
-with nice HSV headers
-a 3" pipe and suprisingly a HSV muffler

= lovely.

Even the locals stop and look round - must get a video clip.

Yes Jagsy, I know loud is a derivative of lovely, and for me and a few others the louder or lovelier the better, totally agree. But HSV, which is also a derivative of lovely and loud seems to spell envy maybe for a few of the uninitiated. And an iron block, bit heavy? Doesn’t that slow it down somewhat.

Brian, hurry up, will be home next month sometime, will that be too soon? And will it actually have a button that says loud / quiet, please, wouldn’t that be brilliant?

So now, how will this effect the power figures when it’s in stealth mode, sorry, only joking, or would it? Now there’s a thing. Maybe I could offer my car for the prototype & torque testing seeing as I spend most of my time marooned on Monkey Island with it sitting feeling sorry for it’s self up in Scotland getting all corroded.

The LS engine is approx 20kg (if memory serves me well) lighter than the older engine and the is well known to be a much better performer than the old engine - but it has somewhat a different torque curve which brings on a massive smile every time you drive it.

I confess I have fallen in love with the old school, but still own a new engined car (I think - Paul can I have an update please).
