Do i need to take my original insurance, log book , driving license , or will photo copies do the job also do i need the triangle , gb sticker, and headlight converters or do french plod take no notice of these things ??

I always take the originals of any documentation. I'm not 100% certain if copies are OK but I would have thought it would be.

As for the other stuff, I doubt they'll be checking/fining for that kind of thing. Only if you are unfortunate to have an accident - the police might moan a bit if you don't mark 75 metres back with a triangle, but you're not going to get nicked for it.

In thirty five years of crossing the channel by car I've never been asked to produce anything however, I'd add a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and reflective vest if you really want to be sure of everything.

Forget the headlamp converters, insulating tape is the stuff to use but there again, when I've not bothered to do it I've only been flashed once or twice.

I've you're asked for documents, show photo-copies but take your originals with you just in case....

You can get done for driving without your papers (originals) but it's unlikely you'll ever be stopped just for this. It could however, add to your fine if you get done for speeding. Reflective vest is now a mandatory item to carry here (France) now.
