Everything OK?

After 15 mins of idle on a 18 degrees cent day, the instruments look like this.



After about 10 mins the fans kicked in at about 100 on the dial and then droped to say about 97 and stayed there.

Is this what you guys would expect?

Oil pressure - 5 from cold and then what you see above after 10 mins.

Looks OK but is running a little hot. Might want to tweak the idle mixture a bit so you can lower the idle speed. This should get the temperature down. Also make sure you run with the heater on full to get rid of any air in the cool system.

It's normal for the oil pressure to be off the scale when cold then drop back to 4.5 bar or so when warm.

hi pete looks pretty good ,i would fit a manual switch for the fans so you can switch them on earlyer 100 is a bit high but could be down to new engine mine sits about 90 all the time .simon

Dave - yeah, a air lock in the heater system would be my worry. I open the cock on fill up. But wuth that 'H' connector, water bypasses the heater no?
The heater cock is open still, but I haven,t connected the heater controls - would they make a difference?

Simon - manual overide is the button below the temp gauge.

I would imagine one wants to avoid going over 105ish yeah?

Having water go through the heater core once it's warmed up should be enough. I don't have an H-pipe bypass (yet) but I'm sure that helps get air out of the system quickly.

Stig - off, just hastle factor. I keep it on the wall and it's a bit of a weight on your tod. I think I know what you're gonna say, engine bay temps will only add to the heat build up and retension. I'll let you know tomorrow....

Have you checked the temp gauge against a known temp - eg boiling water, or a thermometer ? There's a chance it reads a bit high. otherwise - is there adjustment on the fan cut in point - eg something on the temp pick up ?

Oswoldx - have no adjustment on my cooling system, strange, you are the second to say this. Perhaps previous factory spec included an adjustment?

'Fraid so chap. You really need to do a test with the clip on and closed to be sure that the fans are coping.

Only driving I've done since taking delivery was to take it to the painters. Thoroughly enjoyed it too. Felt very weird leaving it! So pleased with the package, plenty of power without a lot of dial watching worrying about temps.

Been there, done that - hated it!
