Side Stripes - What Colour?

Italian Red Car, Balck Stripes at present, I recall somebody saying that original stripes would have been silver, can anybody confirm this?

'Numbnuts' and I sprayed mine, so only paid for paint. Decals are from racecargraphics, or 'viper' here on ph. Damn good value and excellent quality.

How did you find out that the original colour was silver?
