Hi All
I need a good V8 tuning specialist. My chim 5.0 has bin running like a dream for the past year and has just had major service oooh!! how much. Now it's running a bit crappy.I use it all the time,it would'nt start the other day and it stank of petrol. It does'nt tick over very well now and it will stall if you leave it.Any ideas i live in the Bath area.Oh and if you ever visit Bath in your TVR make sure you switch off the engine in the little streets or you'll be bombarded with soggy fruit and veg.

Did it start running badly immediately after the service, or did it develop afterwards? My first port of call would be the garage that serviced it.

Any one of a number of injection or ignition components could be causing this problem and I wouldn't advise going down the list on a 'swap it and see' basis, unless you have a lot of money to spend and would like to build up a spares inventory. However, cleaning the stepper motor is a good place to start - it's a simple job that costs nothing! Do a search on stepper motor in this forum.

You have the right idea in seeking a specialist, someone will no doubt be along with the name of a good one local to you.

If the engine started playing up immediately after the service - take it back and get them to sort it out.

In terms of V8 tuning, you will hear Mark Admas' name mentioned over and over again and not without good reason. I had my Chim 500 re-mapped by him a couple of months back and the improvement in driveability was simply astounding. Mark operates out of a number of garages (Austec Racing in Crawley, Sussex, being one of them and where I took my car - I would highly recommend them as well).

If you do take the car back to where it was serviced and they can't sort it out, bear in mind that Mark Adams is also able to provide diagnostic help as part of the tuning process.

Hope it all works out well for you.
