New battery advice needed

It's not dead but as we've owned the Griff for 3 years I want to change it during the summer months so we don't get any aggro over the winter. I've done the searches and come across Halfords, Exide, Bosch and Lucas. Anyone done this recently. I obviously want it to fit well into the existing box, be same height and have the max crank capacity, with at least a 3 year warranty.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Anyone know which is the best battery for my Griff 500...?
Mine has been playing up for last couple of days due to buggered alternator,
new alternator being fitted tuesday but want to fit new battery too and keep old as back up.
Also has anyone had these symptons.. took car out for oxfordshire meet thursday night and on way back lights seemed to be pulsing, so much so when approaching slower traffic they moved out of the way probably thinking it was the rozzers.
Could this have been the early stages of alternator going up the swanny because battery was nearly dead two days later and had to bump start the car.
Never had battery probs before starter always fired up straight away.
Car used regularly. Have checked earths interior lights, stereo etc.
Have been told alternator can fry the battery if volts too high when checked with multimeter it was showing a peak of 16 Volts and engine seemed to be in tune with pulsing as with lights previously.
Would this have an effect on the ecu and obviously running of engine.

I left my interior light on for a week unnoticed, after jump starting from a AA mobile unit i decided to replace the battery as i had no idea how old the unit was.
Levens,who look after my 94 griff 500 advised me to get someone to fit it as you have to release some bolts under the car and it is better to have the car on a lift rather than scramble underneath.
I got nationwide autocentre (horsham branch) to fit for £20 and felt that this was a bargain.
The unit needed for my 94 griff 500 was numbered 072 and the price i paid was £73.99 including vat.(you can get all sorts of brands) I am reliably informed the difference is whether your unit is on the floor or on a stand in the foot well.

I too thought the mrs had knocked the passenger footwell light on to permanent without knowing but after checking found this not to be the case.
I am going to change the alternator on tues first and see what result I get before shelling out for another battery, one on is just a year old..
I will post up results as a couple of guys on the Chimaera forum seem to be having a similar problem.
