Strange rattle at the rear

I have a low key rattle coming from the rear. Doesnt sound mechanical more like the boot lid is loose or similar. The boot is tight, nothing in the boot, etc
Under power, braking or lifting off makes no difference.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

No, the exhaust is fine but thanks for the thought. It sound like its coming from the boot area.

Anti-roll bar rattling? Check the mounting brackets.

Just checked the anti-roll bar brackets - nice & tight so another good idea but not the problem

The bones of a small mammal that might have been over-wintering in the exhaust?

Petrol tank fittings or things bolted near it (mult-changer, amplified aerial etc)?

Something hasnt fallen under the Petrol tank has it, also theres a void behind the tank that leads to some holes behind the rear wheels (breathers and to help shut the boot by letting the air go somewhere,I Think).
Some could have fallen down there...Hard but something resting on top of the tank may have fallen down there.
Are the roof struts ok they can rattle if the come loose.

Someone had a golf ball rolling round under the fuel tank

Could be the roof over centre struts...muine were loose before my car's last service and made a dull knocking noise...after tightening the car was nice and silent.

Try holding (or get a pasenger too - may be safer) these one at time to see if the noise goes.

Some time back I stripped the front suspension for some re-painting and after re-assembly I could hear a rattle at low speed. Checked every thing and it was all tight and correct but it still annoyed me. The only thing that could have possibly changed was the drop links, so I re-fitted them (old rubber type) the other way up and the rattle stopped. Strange but true.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Tonight I will check Tank Straps, roof struts, small animals & golf balls. I replaced the drop-links with no effect so tick that off the list. I was a keen golfer until I got the TVR .... what would you rather do ?
