Just been to the Ring, Cerbera's rule
Discussion
Just come back (bank holiday mon) from 5 days at the ring.
I was a little bit worried about taking a Cerbera over there (tales of scary handling and thought of falling to bits round the Carousel).
IT WAS ACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My car (2000 Sp 6, cats out, re-mapped, Protech shocks and standard 16" with Eagle F1's) was stunningly good fun. Safe and predictable when it did let go at the back (which it did under power 10-15 times per lap). Lap times were pretty respectable, never got a completely traffic clear lap, but sub 8.30 are quite easy in light traffic. But I never got anywhere near 100% of the cars limit (although probably got to 99% of mine!!)
It just grips and grips and grips!
If you have one go accross, although be prepared to be photographed by everyone while they stare at you like you've got naked chics on the roof!!!!!!!!
Reason for the post is to offer the following advice to anyone planning on going accross:
I kept hitting the bunp stops at the rear, even after jacking the rear up and winding the springs up a little. If you plan some hot laps, get the rear as firm as poss.
The standard 225 tyres (I realise most people have bigger) overheated about 3/4 of the way through a lap, not really badly, but unless you have decent stuff on or bigger, be prepared for a squirmy car.
Clutch fluid should be dot 5.1, I had 4 in and after 2 laps in sucession the fluid boiled and clutch went almost to the floor. As soon as it cooled down it was OK.
As for viewing, do not try to take the car up the access road to Adenau Faust, after 1500m there is a drop in the road, it came back down OK, but I had a big crash on the way up. You would be better walking up the hill (side note: its bloody steep!!). The viewing point is fantasic, we saw some sliding and back end action that made the whole trip worthwhile, never mind the actual driving.
Do not take one out in the rain. It's one scary bugger when it's fully wet (maybe my nuts are too small!!). But in the damp it was pretty good. Grips where I thought it would slide.
So, if you thinking about going, get your backside accross there. I've driven 4 other cars on previous trips and the Cerb beats them all by a massive margin.

No silencers, only thing I saw being checked all weekend was bikes.
Just make sure you call your insurance co. and get a green card. Fully comp is only 3rd party in Europe.
You know what I said about the car being too low, take a look at this picture and you'll see what I mean!

Also, another web site posted some pictures. Look at the third line of pics and see the comment about the Cerbera.

Be prepared to need new front pads. Look at the front wheel dust in both pitures. The wheels were cleaned 5 laps earlier.
Also, have a look at the thread in Track Days and Driving Experiences
