I'm about to pick my 99 Chimaera up on Thursday, and thought I'd join up here to get advice and all that gumpf!

1st trip is scheduled for Friday, we're off to Spa Francorchamps to watch a mate race over there, so any advice as to what to look out for (apart from service stations!) on the way?? Overheating, that sort of thing you know... I've sold my pick up truck to get involved with the TVR fun, fell in love with the noise!!!

Soooooo very excited about it all - will keep you posted!!

Keep an eye on the oil pressure (30-45 on the move, a bit less when stationary) and the temperature (92 or below is fine).

Other than that just be careful in your use of power until you get used to it and enjoy!

One cheap and invaluable thing to take is a big fat paperclip. That way if you look like overheating because the thermostat or the otter switch is a bit knackered you can bypass the otter switch by sticking the ends of the paperclip in the holes and Robert's your father's brother, fans on all the time! Also make sure you've got some WD40, some of the electrical connectors, e.g. the wiper park switch don't like the water and sometimes a healthy squirt of the good stuff will resurrect them.

No, I looked at a different TVR.

Thanks for all the tips, I tested mine in the p*ssing rain on Monday and she seemed to deal with it really well, no leaks, no splutters - but I'll certainly have the WD with me! And a paperclip - nice tip!!

Only 24 hours to pick up, it's like the night before you go on holiday - all the excitement to come!!

Well done and welcome to the wonderful world of TVR ownership... be sure to take something for aching muscles, so as to rub on your cheeks after you've been smiling all day...

Good luck with the trip

And it looks as though the sun may come out...??

Quick question on tyre pressures - it's got F1's, what's the pressure front and back? My old car was 33 and 36 psi - but that was a pick up truck with huge boots...!!
