One of my local Arthur Dailey type dealers has a '94 M-reg Audi Coupe' 2.0l 16v. It's in metalic green with 71k on the clock, FSH(Audi?) and would appear to be absolutely mint. He's asking £4995!

I'm going back tomorrow to have a closer look and a drive and I'm sorely tempted to buy it as my everday hackabout.

Opinions very welcome.

Not much of a bargain mate to be fair,,,these things are hard to shift,,,a colleague had a 94 L plater 2 owner 2.6 V6,38k on the clock with full Audi History..I thought about it but he had to let it go for £4000 private against the £3800 offered against a new BMW....a lot of car for the money,,I drove it,SO boring ....If you do fancy it,check out the massive doors, they sink on the hinges causing poor door fit & sometimes wind noise,,,,£800 notes for Audi to sort out/

I've had a bit of experience with these. The 16 v engine needs to be revved to get any go - and these coupes wheelspin for England. They handle like porridge, feeling really heavy and clumsy through bends. Quattro versions are better on both counts. The cars do have strong points - they are incredibly tough and very practical. For not much mor emoney you could get the S2 version, which I've driven and really "hauls ass"

Hmm.. I would tend to agree.

S2 versions that are sound are available now for 1-2k more. If you are still smitten, then get it checked over by a proper specalist (someone like Quattro Sports if you are in Surrey/Sussex).

Good ones are hard to find, dogs are 10 a penny.

Not that cheap I'm afraid, one of my colleagues recently got an Audi Coupe 2.3 on a J reg, 60k in Black, S/H, Alloys etc. as a trade clearance from a garage for £1100.

Full Valet for £50, looks the proverbial million $, well at least £3k worth...

The bargains are out there

Had a look/drive today. A bag of nails, it had been in a front end shunt, kept stalling, it would hold on too the revs if you went past 4k for at least a second when you tried to change gear, the brakes were shot, half the dash lights never worked, the oil temp never moved in the 10 miles I drove it and worst of all, the bloody windscreen wipers squeeked ..... I HATE THAT!!!

Thanks, but no thanks ..... some soppy git will buy it though, poor sod!
