Help me find a good Tuscan for £25k-ish

Hello. My name is Sally and I want to buy a Tuscan. I have £25k in my piggy bank. I can maybe stretch to 1 or 2k over that, but really would rather stick near £25k so I can afford the insurance too!

Any links, tips, etc. much appreciated. I have checked autotrader web site, TVR club site and this site's classified.

Best advice is join the TVRCC (good articles/news/classifieds), get a January 2003 copy of Evo for the buyers guide, keep searching Auto Trader and most importantly trawl PH for just about any question you might need answered. The search section is excellent, and of course there are the Classifieds...

edited to say: just had a look through Auto Trader, quite a few cars under £27k, some of these are from dealers. Any preference between buying pivately / via a dealer?

I agree totally, like you I was looking for one only a short while ago and found the only way to really research it at the moment is to search back thru the posts on this site. I finally bought one privately from a seller advertising here, so good luck and let us know when you've got one (pictures, story, 'n all)

..oh and GirlRacer, when your searching, if there are any posts that really answer your questions or should be included in the FAQ's section, please let me know

Absolutely right. Issue 51, published in December, says January on the cover. Why do all magazines do that?

Hi Sally,

If you are looking to purchase privately and would appreciate some TVR insider assistance then I would recommend Rob Ingleby. He is well known in TVR circles and has a good knowledge of the range. He makes his living trawling the market for his clients and does all the legwork before giving them a shortlist of 'good' cars to view to their spec. He charges a fee for finding the right car for you, will inspect them for you (much better than the AA because he knows what he is looking for) and even do the negotiating. You'll quite often find his market knowledge will result in a price that saves the cost of the client's fee.

Have a look at www.findasportscar.co.uk for an idea of what is offered. I've just had a look and he's even wearing a suit on the top picture . Makes him look like a creepy salesman , must have a word with him about that . Fear not though cos he's a regular guy

Yes, I read the Evo piece - in fact that piece is responsible for me realising I could afford a Tuscan! Ok, so realistically I may have to increase my budget to the high 20's, but even so, it was a nice wake up call.
