Maser follows Ferrari FXX
New MC12 Corsa offers exclusive track-only fun
Maserati has announced the MC12 Corsa, a supercar which it plans to build to order "for a select number of Maserati clients". Only 12 will be made.
The car's been developed from the MC12 GT1 type which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup, and "will allow its owners to test their driving capability in the most exclusive gentlemen drivers’ environment."
A clear response to Ferrari's FXX programme, under which driver-clients become test drivers for Ferrari, the MC12 Corsa will only be used on track during private test sessions, or at exhibition activities organised by Maserati. It won't be homologated either for road use or racing.
The Maserati MC12 Corsa will be priced at €1 million (£685,210) plus tax starting in autumn 2006.
And for that price, you can expect that there'll be a few added options too, to make it even more exclusive. Wonder if Aston Martin will follow this path...

save yourself some money and get a Porsche GT1....similar performance and a Le Mans winning pedigree to boot
When it comes to racing pedigree, Maserati would be the Crufts 'Best in Show'.

And we all know they produced some incredible dogs during the eighties and early nineties

From Maserati's point of view, no homologation then why ??
However I think it looks the business especially against the FXX
Surely the MC12 Corsa or other's are manufactured by Ferrari:
Maserati does not have carbon fiber chassis capability or manufacture V12 or gearbox or anything...................
MC12 is a Enzo in drag
MC12 Corsa a FXX in drag
This is only a way of making lots of money without breaking the innitial 350 off exclusive Enzo's to be made.

Yeah but remember Ferrari dumped ownership of Maserati earlier this year. This looks like corporate bitterness on Maserati's behalf to me, but I doubt it'll work in the same way as the FXX. Someone in Bahrain will buy one/all twelve, and thats all you'll hear of it.
Ali.
