Hi there, I'm sure you've all probably heard these questions b4 but here goes:

I've just bought a 97P Chimy 500 (b4 Xmas) and want to do some upgrades to it. I don't want to go mental but just improve it a bit......

1. The brake discs need replacing so I was gonna upgrade them. Where/what should I get??? Should I just get drilled/grooved disc or bigger ones and associated pads or should I be looking at calipers too???

2. The rear lights are next, is there a preferred producer/set of lights or are the afterburners just the cool ones? And are they easy to fit?

3. I was then looking at A carbon ACT plenum and Adams remap....any ideas, problems (heard something about pre cats having to come out), anyone know any preferred routes??????

4. Should I replace all the wishbone bushes with poly ones?

5. Finally the wheel seem a bit small 15" on the front . Is there anything to be gained by having 16" front and 17" rear, or 17" all round and associated reduced rubber profile, especially if bigger discs and/or calipers are involved?

I would appreciated any advice, especially from anyones past experience and problems of such upgrades. I am just looking to do trackdays and maybe a bit of sprint/hillclimbs along with normal cruising and boxster munching!!!!!

Many Thanx Mark

Had the induction done as an economy mod together with MA chip and RR burning in--very noticeable improvement in response--the old dinosaur is actually revving. Since lolly seems no object IMHO you might contact V8 developments re: their upgrade to 5.4. This plus all related suspension etc upgrades and induction (triple plenum) would get you probably well into the 300s (REAL) but you always have to consider the limitations of a straightvalve pushrod design--I would be most surprised if say 400 could be achieved with the car still driveable. Good luck--hope your wallet is fat.

If you are thinking of doing sprints and want to stay in standard production then any of these changes will put you into the big boys class (B6) where there are some serious competition like 500+ bhp Cosworths etc.

I've covered all of these mods in the new edition of the bible and yes they can make sense but it depends on how deep your budget is. Brake and engine upgrades are on www.t-v-r-services.co.uk and covers most. of the topics. Bigger wheels will affect the handling and lower profile tyres will put additional strain on the front suspension especially if the car is hammered.

If you are doing anything to the car, especially engines, double what you think the cost will be and that will be about right.
