Heat control gone

My warm/cold switch aint working anymore. All I get is warm air all of the time. With or without the air con on it doesn't make any difference. The aircon unit is certainly "clicking" on when I engage the switch.

I'm sure others have had the same problem - is it an easy remedy?

I think it is. It'll most likely be the long metal link thats come off at the back. Not sure what you have to take off, can you get your arm up inside to have a feel?

My car had this problem the first day I had it. You really need to get it on a ramp and take the vent from the under side of the car of and squeeze your hand between the pipes (you need to wait for them to cool) and re-join the conmtecting cable - it's quite a fiddle but not a long job if you know what your doing.

Air con makes no difference, i.e. without the air con I still get exceptionally warm air.

I got that with mine when it needed regassing too! i.e. the aircon isn't cooling the air at all. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your problem though /shrug.

Fair point - It's in for a service in a weeks time so will get it checked then.

I had this with mine last year. Solution is exactly as Gizard suggests:

Go to any tyre place or garage with a low profile hyd lift and give the spotty youth either £5 or a ride around the block to allow you to put your car on the lift. Remove vented central panel from undertray (about 9 screws) whilst answering the normal string of questions about 'how fast it goes'. Reach up between the pipes and discover that a small black plastic clip has become detached from the metal heater control actuator. Re-attach.

Before you replace the panel, it is worth exercising the heater temp control knob to see whether the clip becomes detached again (seek assistance of spotty youth with seat cover)! If it does you will need a new clip (a quick call to the the factory). If this is the case, simply leave the heater in the preferred position (hopefully cold if spring finally arrives!) and replace panel until part arrives in post. Pre-arrange further complimentary use of hyd lift when part arrives by promising to take spotty youth's mate Daz for a ride too.

Easy.

On My 2.5 I only really get cold air when its right over in the cold, just a slight adjustment clock wise - 5mm or so and its warm again. Is this normal.
