Window tints, should I remove then?

My car is going to be put up for sale as soon as I can take some decent pictures of it, but I don't know if I should remove the window tints. I know they aren't everybodys cup of tea, but I quite like them, considering the red shaded part quite suits the car. Visibity isn't affected that much by them, but they are looking a bit ragged around the edges. As this is the case, should I remove them prior to taking the pictures for its classifieds entry?

Would it put you off if the car you view had tints? (especially tints with raggy edges)

I think I've made my mind up that they're coming off, but just thought I'd check.

Leave them on and you have the best of both worlds.

If a buyer dislikes them and this is the only sticking point, you can take them off at your expense once they've paid their deposit.

To be honest I would take them off, could give the wrong (M**Power) impression to a buyer.

Yeah, that's the thing that's worrying me - does it portray the wrong image? I would keep them on for the reason of it depends on if the buyer likes them, then let them decide to keep or get rid. I know it's dead easy to remove them, whereas the buyer might think it's a hassle they could do without.

I see from your first photo that your handbrake works about as well as mine.

I have tinted windows on mine too - albeit a plain dark tint. Leave them on imho and volunteer to remove them should a serious prospective buyer not want them. Personally I think they suit the car.

Actually, the handbrake works great. When I'm coming down the drive, I can't see the little brick wall, so the wooden block acts as my stop. Then when it's at rest, I just leave it in gear and it saves the handbrake for when I need it at MOT time.

I think they look great in the pics but if they look tatty up close I'd have them off 'cos it shows wear and that would put me off. That's my two peneth anyway.

If the edges are ratty I'd remove them.

Also those fade tints are illegal I beleive.

Finally got round to removing them. The car looks instantly cleaner and more tidy, so definately the right thing to do. Hopefully should sell without too much hassle as I think potential buyers can be put off by the slightest thing and yet they were really easy to remove.

Just have to wait and say goodbye to my baby now

how did you get the tint off. i have them on my car and was thinking of taking them off

to remove the window film heat up gently with a hair dryer, this should stop the film coming off in tiny bits. Thats how we remove vinyl/film from all vehicles/windows.

Just got a hold of one of the corners and pulled, comes off in one whole sheet. Could be tricky if the tint goes down behind the rubber trim of the window, but I knew mine was only down there for about 1/4 inch, so just pulled it and it came off.

Car looks nice and clean now, looks much better.
