As TVR have a problem (again!) supplying clutches, is there any reason why I couldn't buy the clutch from elsewhere, give it to the garage and let them fit it?

If that is poss, does anyone have any experience as to where the best place is to order and does it have a part number?

Cheers

Harrogate Horseless Carriages (Drivestyle's repair shop since they took over HHC) had lots on the shelf when I had mine done 3 months ago.

Thanks for that Richard , If my service dealer doesn't have any luck, I'll give them a ring.

You'll be lucky matey, I am waiting for one myself, there are other suppliers that stock AP clutches, but the TVR one seems to be just slightly different enough to be unique.

Didn't realise that, I assume to make it different, TVR ask AP to 'tweak' it (presumably to make it last only 20K
miles! )

Has anyone ever tried contacting AP direct? If TVR arn't paying their bills so that we can't get our clutches, surely the contract, if any, is broken with TVR until the bill is paid - in the meantime, AP still make money off private customers buying the clutch unit themselves!

Great timing!
I had a new clutch fitted last December when my engine was out even though the old one was still fine.
Eventually sold the old one on Tuesday for £100!

More disgraceful behaviour from TVR. And it's not the first time, or the second...

Can PH get a formal statement as to why TVR customers are having to suffer such massive downtime?? There'a lot of speculation about why this availability problem exists and TVR owes its customers an explanation - but it'll need to be a good one: if we get any of the usual BS or head-burying-in-the-sand, I hope they get punished for it.

I heard through the grapevine that AP have SIXTY TVR clutches ready to go, but they won't send them until they are paid for, don't know how true this is, but it's damn annoying, and annoying and equally as frustrating for the garages who are trying to get hold of them, on behalf of their customers!

Ok stupid question I know, has your clutch gone then chris ?
I only ask as I lost all gears on my car with no warning about three months ago.
Turn out to be thrust bearing had siezed up and bored its way through the finger followers.
The dealer replaced the whole clutch assembly, slave cylinder, thrust bearing etc etc on my car, just interested what symptoms you had and what was replaced.
Try Gatwick TVR they turn mine round within 24 hours, from the car leaving on a flatbed truck to me picking it up.

It 'almost' has gone, I get the feeling it has one more trip left in it before it gives up (and that trip is to SP!), gears are now very hard to select and the bite is almost non-existent. (I also do not want my car to be the subject of ridicule if the clutch does give up completely, waiting for the RAC!)
I am very peeved off at the mo, was meant to be done last weekend, and driving a BMW diesel to pick my son up on a day like today does not help!
Hell, I’ve even thought about getting a Z4M – what’s the point of owning a car you can’t drive due to not being able to get the parts to fix it?

(I am sure all this will be forgotten the moment my Tam is sorted and I can once again drive it with the roof off – right now though, am very bitter!)

Couldn't even use the wife's MG to get my open top fix, as that was squished by an old biddy last week!!!!
