Peak load times, probably contention kicking in. Their service staus is all green.

If you've got 2 Meg at 50:1 and all 50 of you are caning it that gives you about 42k each. It's my understanding, that unless you're unbundled that 50:1 is at exchange level so changing providor won't make any difference. I'm lucky, where I live there's a very low kids/household level, and it's kids who eat the bandwidrth as a rule, so contention has never been a huge issue for me. People who live in a more homgenously populated area are increasingly going to notice this.

It might also be that you're going through a regrade, this can mess with perfomance no end for a couple of weeks, but given the times you mention I'd say it was contention.

sounds about right. i live in a demseley populated area (1930s). i can pick up four other wireless routers so i think that says a lot... (btw i don't think it's my router or pc cos they seem to me 'talking' to each other ok).

i don't quite understand some of the stuff you say though - would it be tiscali or BT i need to check with to see if they're 'regrading' stuff.. BT..?
